A work in Progress
I have always felt very deeply but did not know where to put these emotions. I understand how lashing out and misplacing these emotions can hurt others. I have spent a lifetime sorting through the destruction misplacing these strong emotions can cause.
I started to better understand myself at
Metropolitan State University where I earned a bachelors degree in Psychology. I enhanced that journey by also earning a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, thus radicalizing my understanding of the world around me and allowing me to develop empathy in a way I hadn't considered before.
I spent eight years working as a victim's advocate with human trafficking survivors; providing support and resources as I continued my education.
I achieved my Counseling degree at Grand Canyon University with an Emphasis in Trauma while working with developmentally delayed adjudicated youth in a corrections/home setting. I learned here first hand just how deeply hurt people hurt people.
I have continued working with individuals who have engaged in socially destructive and self-destructive behaviors. In doing so, I have enhanced my ability to offer a safe, judgment free space to sort out the worst parts of yourself so you can discover the best.
